What brought you to Cornerstone Diagnostics, and how long have you been here?
Cornerstone Diagnostics has a reputation in our rural community for providing career opportunities in a specialized industry that greatly interested me. I have a passion for growing and learning, and Cornerstone has allowed me to do just that by continually increasing my knowledge in the diagnostic fields. I've been able to increase areas of responsibility in a leadership role over the last nine years here.
What is your current role and what does a work day look like for you?
I am the Director of Business Services and our Compliance Officer. I oversee, both directly and indirectly, the Client Services team, the Billing team, and Corporate Compliance. I provide a compliance culture and guidance each day to both internal team members as well as to our clients. I also engage in problem solving and strategy development from a leadership level and drive implementation of new initiatives to help increase internal efficiencies and client satisfaction.
Is there anything about your role that people might find surprising or unexpected?
Every day provides a new opportunity to help people. I have communications daily, answering questions and giving insight with internal staff and clients, and knowing that I am able to provide information to allow clients to make the most informed decision benefitting their patients is an incredible feeling.
How does the work you do benefit providers and patients?
My teams ensure that client's and patient's needs are addressed quickly and efficiently as a first line of communication. As a laboratory that offers specialized testing, we understand that fast and accurate communication with our clients allows them to have the information they need to best treat their patients as quickly as possible. I provide regular Healthcare Compliance education to our clients on the latest studies and guidelines to assist in risk assessment.
What part of your job do you find the most challenging?
Compliance is ever-evolving, it requires a tremendous amount of study and subsequent review of our Compliance program to ensure we are not only meeting, but exceeding, the most up to date guidelines as well as providing education to our clients.
What gives you meaning and purpose in your work?
Knowing that the services we provide are benefitting someone's loved one. At the end of the day, our patients are the driving force behind everything that we do.
Any other notes/items you'd like to include?
It's been an absolute pleasure to work with and grow with Cornerstone Diagnostics for my tenure here. Working with the level of talent that is here has been amazing and forging relationships with our clients has been one of the most rewarding aspects of being in the position that I am in. I am looking forward to watching Cornerstone Diagnostics continue to grow, evolve, and launch into new testing markets.
